Normally, the date and time on your iPhone or iPad are set automatically. Your device uses information about the current time zone and time, which is provided through your internet connection or mobile network, for example. If the displayed time is incorrect or you want to use a different time zone, you can also adjust the settings manually. You can change the date and time on your device in just a few steps.
Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone or iPad. Then tap "General" to access the general device settings.
Scroll down and tap "Date & Time". Here, you can choose whether your device should set the time automatically or whether you want to adjust the date, time, and time zone manually.
If you want to set the date and time yourself, turn off the switch next to "Set Automatically". This will enable the options for manual adjustments. If automatic settings are already disabled, you can proceed directly to the next step.
Tap the displayed date or time to adjust the values manually. Select your preferred date and time. If you want to use a different time zone, tap "Time Zone" and search for the corresponding city or region.
Once you have selected your preferred settings, the date and time on your iPhone or iPad will be adjusted accordingly. Check that the displayed time is correct. If you want your device to automatically use the correct time and time zone again in the future, you can re-enable "Set Automatically".
Can't change the date and time manually?
If the "Set Automatically" option is greyed out, this may be due to restrictions related to Screen Time, device management, or certain mobile network and regional settings. Check the relevant settings. If the automatic time zone is not detected correctly, go to "Settings" > "Privacy & Security" > "Location Services" > "System Services" and check whether "Setting Time Zone" is enabled.
